“I didn't inherit money. I didn't marry money. As an international civil servant, I earned enough money to live a comfortable existence—but I didn't earn a fortune. I did, however, acquire a superb college education. Thus, in planning even my limited estate, I was eager to ‘pay forward’ the opportunity to attend Swarthmore. By working with Swarthmore's gift planning office, it was easy to set up a trust in my will. This enabled me both to provide for my family and to establish an endowed scholarship to support future students.”
