The Legacy Circle
Our Quaker founders were generous in their support of an education that would reflect their values, encourage innovation, and foster a profound commitment to social responsibility. Today, our challenge is to preserve our legacy of excellence and to prepare our students to take leadership roles in a rapidly changing world.
Estate gifts help Swarthmore meet that challenge. Life income gifts and gifts from wills, trusts, and retirement accounts ensure that Swarthmore can continue to welcome talented, accomplished students from all walks of life, regardless of their financial circumstances. Estate gifts help provide the vital financial support that allows Swarthmore to offer an outstanding liberal arts education distinguished for its breadth of courses taught by world-class faculty in small classroom settings.
Sandy ’62 and Izzie Phillips Williams ’63, members of the Legacy Circle, sum it up best: “In changing times, an education that meets Swarthmore’s standards will provide leaders that the world requires.”
Join the Legacy Circle
The Legacy Circle honors alumni, parents, and friends who have included Swarthmore in their estate plans. If you have provided for the future of Swarthmore with a gift in your will, trust, IRA account, 401(k), 403(b), or life insurance policy or with a life income gift, you are invited to become a member. The size of your gift is not a factor in Legacy Circle membership. Please tell us about your estate gift so that you can join your classmates and other members of the Swarthmore community who share your vision and foresight in the Legacy Circle. You may be an anonymous member of the Legacy Circle if you wish.
Friends and alumni who will be age 70 by December 31, 2019, can have their future bequest included in the College’s next campaign. Learn more.
